This week we took to Frenchtown to begin filming our new skits. Each group separated according to what they wanted to film, and we embarked toward different suitable locations within Frenchtown.
One group wanted to show different videos of them dancing to music around various locations within the Frenchtown area. This group was in charge of not only filming the dance videos, but also the “making of” videos as well.
Another group headed toward the Goodbread community to meet the Pepper Lady, but we were met by a man who referred to himself as “Boss Man”. He was kind enough to invite us into his home and show us all of his old photos. He talked to us about living in Frenchtown his whole life, and how much it had changed in the last 50 years or so. We were able to learn a lot about the rich history of Frenchtown and the people that live there.
The third group decided to film a short skit that one of the teens had written earlier. In this skit, he collaborated with another teen to create a plot and dialogue that were essential to his storyline about superhero training.
And finally, we had several other students and teens travel between groups to record b-side videos of the filming process to show a behind-the-scenes look at the work we are doing in our Film Club.
We had a wonderful time filming in Frenchtown, and next week we will wrap up the filming portion of our projects so we can begin editing them together for the film screening in May!
