We started off this semester really strong! Over the winter break we decided to collaborate with a few more departments to help us with all the new recruits. Aside from the College of Fine Arts, we also have members from The College of Motion Picture Arts and the director of the Palmer Monroe Teen Center joining our project.
Last semester we focused primarily on introducing our students to the issues of food access and food deserts in the Frenchtown area. This semester, however, we are focused on honing our film-making skills. This week we had several students from the College of Motion Picture Arts come in and talk about film techniques with our students. We watched a few examples of 4-shot films and created our own versions. We learned how to make an establishing shot (shot 1), a character development shot (shot 2), a conflict shot (shot 3) and a resolution shot (shot 4). We spent the majority of this class working on these skills and writing three different scripts to be shot next week.
